Gameboy color dating sim

So before this week's column gets started, I figured I should introduce myself. I'm Caty Mc Carthy, and I’ve joined the USgamer team as the shiny, new Assistant Reviews Editor. In the past I’ve written for Kill Screen, The AV Club, Waypoint, Polygon, and IGN, and I’m looking forward to writing (a whole lot more) here!#5, Not always #6, Its the genre of "Dating Sim" games.

As the new warden of Digital Gems, and in honor of today's romantic holiday, I've decided to spotlight a genre near and dear to my heart: dating simulators. Lucky because I don’t have to navigate the app-ridden, anxiety-inducing scene of modern dating (thank you, long-term relationship). I’ve still been to bars and parties with friends, the Tinder-frequenting type, where someone whips out their phone and suddenly we’re ooing and awing, collectively swiping through the Maybes and Definitelys and No Ways that cross the phone’s screen.

Title: Azure Dreams Publisher: Konami Release Date: 1997 Platforms: Playstation 1, and Gameboy Color.

Note that the Gameboy Color version is widely different and not as good as the PS1 version, for example the Gameboy version removed all of the dating sim elements from the game.

Unless you take frequent breaks, you may get so lonely that you start talking to your livestock...

I did, and I'm still not sure whether it was my imagination or not that they spoke back.

I really recommend playing the original PS1 version.
