Updating list items in sharepoint

When I run the workflow, I get the same errors Paul described above. It is fundamental to all the production workflows I have created except I use a lookup to another list to populate the names. Some lists may appear in Web Parts, which are basic buildings blocks of Web pages on a Windows Share Point Services site. For example, the Announcements, Calendar, and Links lists appear in Web Parts on the default home page.

For example at this point I wanted to update the status field for all list items simply to indicate that another background job being handled by a windows service had been initiated that would process on every list item.

The main goal of the Update List Item action in a Share Point Designer workflow is to update the values of fields of one item that is located in a Share Point list or a Share Point document library.

When you add an Update List Item action to a Share Point Designer workflow the following phrase appears: in the phrase for the Share Point Designer action, the Update List Item dialog box appears.

As far as I have been able to establish it isn’t possible to monitor the progress of the batch commands as it is just passed to Share Point to handle.

If anyone knows if there is anyway to monitor the progress of the batch commands that have been handled I would love to know, sadly I don’t think this is possible meaning that this approach is not going to be suitable for all situations.
